Going Medieval on Breast Cancer!

Now that I have your attention. I wanted to blog about something that has effected my family.
I'm sure you know someone or have had someone very dear to you effected by cancer. It has run rampant through both sides of my family. I am very grateful that Breast Cancer has been defeated by at least two of my Aunts. My Aunt Leah & my Aunt Ann.

This October I would like to participate in an event that raises money for women in Port Huron and the Blue Water Area in Michigan who, like me cannot afford a mammogram or the treatment needed for those diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Studio 1219 will be hosting The Art of Being a Woman through the month of October. During this month there will be many activities. One includes the creation of a bra. The bras will be displayed at the Studio and voted upon (votes raising money for our Studio and the Wellness fund, 1 vote for $1 and 15 votes for $10) and then auctioned in a silent auction at the end of the month. Modeled proudly by the Port Huron Firefighters.

I had the idea of making a chainmaille bra, however I am unable to afford the supplies that total upwards of $100. I hope to be able to donate any remaining monies, beyond supply costs, directly to the fund. So I appeal to you, someone that has had a loved one succumb to Breast Cancer or one who triumphed and is a Proud Survivor. If you would like to donate please use the DONATE button on the right. And if you live in the Port Huron area, please share my blog and encourage your family and friends to join in the festivities at Studio 1219.

I thank you, and will post more of the details of the events, as I am volunteering my time to assist in organizing these events.

UPDATE: For the first 10 donors that generously contribute $20 or more, I will send them a Celtic Vision Pendant in Pink and Silver on a Stainless Steel Ball chain (18" in length) as a thank you for helping me meet my goal. I have already sent one to my Aunt, and my cousin for their help. Your pendant will be sent to the address on your paypal account, if it is different please note it in paypal comments. Thank you!
